13U House League

2026 13U HOUSE LEAGUE RULES

1) Games are 6 innings long. A game that is called early because of weather, darkness, time limits, etc., is an official game if 4 innings have been played (3 and a half if home team is winning.

If a game is called due to time limit, weather, darkness, etc. the score will revert back to the last full inning played unless the home team has tied or taken the lead then the game will end with that result).  2 hour 20 min stop time

2) There is a limit of 5 runs per inning except for the last inning. No matter how many runs score, teams must get 3 outs in the last inning unless the home team is ahead.

3) The 10-run mercy rule is in effect after 5 innings of play (4 and a half if home team leading).

4) Teams can play with six players. Players arriving after the game has started (no matter what inning) are allowed to play and go in the last spot in batting order. We encourage you to share players – provide an outfielder etc so that the game is played.

5) Teams are to use the 10th player in the rover position however, if the opposing team only has 9 or less players, a rover is not permitted. Both teams must have the ability to field 10 players for this rule to be in effect.

6) All players are in the batting order.

7) There is unlimited and free substitution except for the pitcher. Once removed from the mound – the pitcher cannot pitch again.

8) Baseball Canada pitch count rules will be in effect.

9) Catcher’s rule is in effect to speed up the game. If a catcher is on base with two outs, he or she can be replaced by the player who made the last out. This allows the catcher to get their gear on so that the next inning can start quickly.

10) The NO CONTACT rule is strictly enforced. Base runners must make every attempt to not have any contact with fielders who are making a play on the ball. Contact needs to be avoid at home plate. If there is accidental contact, the runner MAY be ruled out. If contact is intentional or negligent, the runner is out on the play and out of the game.

11) Any player or coach warming up the pitcher must wear a helmet and mask.

12) Stealing is allowed.  However, there is no leading off, and the runner may not leave on a steal attempt until the ball has left the pitcher’s hand. If the runner leaves early and is thrown out, they are out. If they are safe, they will be sent back to the base.

No stealing on the throwback to the pitcher.

13) There are no balks.

14) The player is out on a dropped third strike – regardless of whether the catcher drops the ball.

15) Only one coach per team may request to speak to an umpire about a call.

16) Only registered house players can be used as call-ups.  Not rep players or someone’s cousin sitting in the stands.

17) If a regular season game has a tied score at the end of regulation play, then the game remains a tie.

18) All players /coaches are asked to pick up any garbage in or around their dugout at the end of each game.

19) We ask that everyone follow the FAIR PLAY policy.
